Mile #3175

BUTTE, MONTANA ( Pronounced like /b-yoot\ but I called it "butt" the whole time. You'll understand why later.

We drove a short 2.5 hours from Yellowstone to Butte so we could get an oil change on the RV and to get the tires looked at again just to make sure everything is still okay. We always called ahead to each place to make sure they could accommodate an RV of this size and to make sure they had availability, but every time we pulled up, they said they were really busy and couldn't see us. That happened twice! So we tried one last repair shop and got right in and got the oil changed on the RV and the generator. The mechanic working with the gen said that he doesn't like that brand because he's had issues in the past with them not starting and and we told him that we've never had an issue with it and it's been great.

Well guess what? Ever since we left his shop, our generator won't start. UGH! Thankfully, since it's so cool out up here we don't need it while driving, but still!! Just another thing that needs fixing.

So anyway, at the campground we stayed in there was a place called The Chicken Shack and we decided to try it out. The menu didn't have much, but at the last second I changed my order to a "21 piece popcorn shrimp basket". 21 is an awfully specific number, but okay. Tim got a 4 piece chicken basket and we ate outside in the cool air.

A couple hours later as I'm getting ready for bed, I start to get really nauseous - which isn't that out of the ordinary for me, especially when I get very tired - so I brushed it off and went to sleep. An hour later, I wake up so nauseous that I ran to the bathroom and yep... there's my dinner again. I'll spare you all the details, but basically I had food poisoning. Yum. It wasn't the most pleasant night for me.

What did I learn from that experience? Don't order seafood so far inland from a placed called The Chicken Shack.

So there's my "Butt", Montana story!

Here's the office to the campground we stayed in and to the left is the door to the Chicken Shack.

Mile #3038 - Yellowstone

We went to Yellowstone National Park two days ago and all I can say is wow...

Everything was so beautiful and it really put the ground we walk and drive on everyday into perspective for me and reminded me that it isn't just sand and grass but an ever changing and growing being. A lot of the things we saw yesterday looked prehistoric!

Our campsite for the 3 nights
First ones on the tour bus headed to Yellowstone!
One of the many springs in Yellowstone

Mile #3038

Yellowstone Grizzly Resort

Today we went zip lining and took the pups on a nature trail!

Someone got tired on the trail ;) Also, I was hiding the almonds I had behind my back because Ava couldn't focus. So it looks like I have no right arm lol
Athena found a yummy stick...
Along with the zip lines, they had a challenge course that we went through.
One of the zip line pedestals.
We had lunch at the Bear Country Burrito Company. Yum!

Today, we're on our way to Salt Lake City (or maybe even Yellowstone if Tim is feeling crazy)!

Our sweet setup
S' mores night!
I regretted that red meat later... Veggie burgers only for me!

I'd like to thank all of our friends and family who have been keeping up with my blog! It motivates me to keep doing it! I love you guys!

Mile #2391

We made it to Zion National Park two nights ago around 10pm and then yesterday morning we made reservations to go ATVing through the canyons! It was seriously the most fun I've ever had! Tim took GoPro video of the whole thing, so we'll get that up as soon as possible.  It was a 4 hour tour that took us through canyons and over dunes! Today, we're in the shop getting the brakes replaced.

Exploring the stream behind our RV
Athena wanted to go for a swim
Tim says I look like Toad from Super Mario Bros. with that helmet.

Mile #2117

The Sattlers Do The Grand Canyon!... Again!

Some of you may remember that Tim and I visited the Grand Canyon last November while he was in Arizona flying the F-16. Well, the canyon experienced a once in a decade temperature inversion and it looked something like this:

That's the Grand Canyon! Yeah, we didn't get to see anything. And we didn't know about active duty military getting into national parks for free so we paid $25 for that view!

So imagine my delight when I found out that we'd get another chance to see the Grand Canyon!  Plus, we got in free this time! We were so excited to finally get to see it, even though it was a little out of the way, it was worth it:
Family Photo!
So blessed to get to spend this time with my husband. Check out that beard!
The Bean chillin. PS That spot on her nose is where she rubbed it raw from trying to escape from the crate after we had to lock it down because she figured out how to open the door on her own. She's too smart!
The baby schnaves!
Timmy and the Bean!
