Mile #2039

Mile #2039

Flagstaff!!

Today was the first day we didn't have an RV malfunction of some kind. Yay! The scenery driving in was amazing and it's a cool 58 degrees right now and I love it!

After we arrived and set up camp, we got our bikes off the rack and biked the 4 miles to a Walmart so we could restock the fridge.

Back at the campsite, we threw our laundry in the wash and Tim took Athena to the dog park while I took my first shower in the RV. Hindsight, as you know, is always 20/20, and I definitely should have let the LP heat up the water a taaaaad longer because half way through shampooing my hair, I had an icy wake up call!

Just finished dinner and we're all ready to settle in for a movie. We're heading to see the Grand Canyon tomorrow then setting our sights on Zion National Park!

Mile #1437

Got the damage fixed that the blown tire caused and then we went to Discount Tire and got 5 new tires put on the Winnie! Got some lunch from Red Lobster (real food finally!) and we took it back to the RV to eat and now we're on the road to Albuquerque!

This was an ice cream truck at Discount Tire that was blaring its music while getting serviced.

Mile #1420

We made it to Amarillo!  This KOA isn't as nice as the last one, but it's our home for the night! Took the pups to the off-leash pet park and they seemed to like getting to walk around for a bit by themselves. The wind here is outrageous!

The Winnie in Amarillo!
The Bean at the pet park.
This is the nicest grass I've ever felt...

Mile #1236 cont...

An Oklahoma state trooper stopped to make sure we were okay and talked to Tim outside for a bit about our situation, and while we were waiting for Good Sam to call us back, the trooper said that he knows a place about a mile away that could help us out and that he would take us there. The trooper pulled out into the highway to block traffic so Tim could get back on the road and he escorted us to the tire shop and told the owner that we needed a new tire. Fast forward 2 hours and we're back on the road, but not for good- the tire shreds caused some damage to our furnace so we were told of a place that could help us out and continued there. Once there, we were told that they couldn't fit us in until tomorrow, so we left and headed to Amarillo. We made an appointment for tomorrow morning at a place called The Rodfather's (ha ha) so we'll see how that goes.

Whoops...
Yikes!
